Stat. tit. 22, § 22-980","heading":"Duty of sheriff when defendant sentenced to state prison","body":"If the judgment is for imprisonment in a state prison, the\n\nsheriff of the county or subdivision must, upon receipt of a\n\ncertified copy thereof or authorized notification thereof, take and\n\ndeliver the defendant to the warden of the Lexington Assessment and\n\nReception Center or to a place determined by the Director of the\n\nDepartment of Corrections. The sheriff must also deliver to the\n\nDepartment of Corrections:\n\n1. A certified copy of the judgment and sentence, unless the\n\njudgment and sentence has previously been sent electronically by an\n\nauthorized clerk of the court;\n\n2. A copy of any medical, dental, or mental health records of\n\nthe defendant for conditions reviewed or treated while in the\n\ncustody of the sheriff;\n\n3. Any medication or medical or dental device prescribed for\n\nthe defendant while in the custody of the sheriff or for a pre-\n\nexisting condition;\n\n4. Any forms required to be filed pursuant to the rules of the\n\nCourt of Criminal Appeals at the time of the formal sentencing; and\n\n5. Any forms of identification of the defendant that were in\n\nthe possession of the defendant at the time of sentencing.\n\nUpon delivery of the defendant with the required judgment,\n\nrecords and medication or devices, the sheriff must take from the\n\nDepartment of Corrections a receipt for the defendant, and make\n\nreturn thereof to the court.\n\nR.L. 1910, § 5965.
