Stat. tit. 24, § 24-171","heading":"Definitions","body":"As used in the Oklahoma Student Borrower's Bill of Rights Act:\n\n1. \"Guarantor\" means a nonprofit or state organization that\n\nworks with a lender, servicer, school and the U.S. Department of\n\nEducation to help students successfully repay certain federal\n\nstudent loans;\n\n2. \"Student loan borrower\" means:\n\na. any resident of this state who has received or agreed\n\nto pay a student education loan, or\n\nb. any person who shares responsibility with such\n\nresident for repaying the student education loan;\n\n3. \"Student loan servicer\" means any person, wherever located,\n\nresponsible for the servicing of any student education loan to any\n\nstudent loan borrower;\n\n4. \"Servicing\" means:\n\na. receiving any scheduled periodic payments from a\n\nstudent loan borrower pursuant to the terms of a\n\nstudent education loan,\n\nb. applying the payments of principal and interest and\n\nsuch other payments with respect to the amounts\n\nreceived from a student loan borrower, as may be\n\nrequired pursuant to the terms of a student education\n\nloan, and\n\nc. performing other administrative services with respect\n\nto a student education loan.\n\nServicing does not include default aversion efforts provided by\n\nstate or nonprofit guaranty agencies as required by their agreement\n\nwith the U.S. Department of Education under the Higher Education Act\n\nof 1965; and\n\n5. \"Student education loan\" means any loan primarily for\n\npersonal use to finance education or other school-related expenses.","path":["OK Code","Title 24"],"source_url":"https://www.oklegislature.gov/OK_Statutes/CompleteTitles/os24.pdf","current_through":"2026-08-14","vintage":"open-us-law v2026.08, retrieved 2026-09-14","retrieved_at":"2026-09-14T18:32:36Z","sha256":"0030bda5f0b8af92c2aa777d7dbde85dbb45466871aab7b25b70002d5886bed3","source_id":"us-ok","stale":false,"prev":"us-ok/okla.-stat.-tit.-24-24-170","next":"us-ok/okla.-stat.-tit.-24-24-172"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
