Stat. tit. 25, § 25-1312","heading":"Status Verification System - Definitions","body":"As used in Sections 6 and 7 of this act:\n\n1. “Status Verification System” means an electronic system\n\noperated by the federal government, through which an authorized\n\nofficial of an agency of the State of Oklahoma or of a political\n\nsubdivision therein may make an inquiry, by exercise of authority\n\ndelegated pursuant to Section 1373 of Title 8 of the United States\n\nCode, to verify or ascertain the citizenship or immigration status\n\nof any individual within the jurisdiction of the agency for any\n\npurpose authorized by Section 7 of this act. The Status\n\nVerification System shall be deemed to include:\n\na. the electronic verification of work authorization\n\nprogram of the Illegal Immigration Reform and\n\nImmigration Responsibility Act of 1996, P.L. 104-208,\n\nDivision C, Section 403(a); 8 U.S.C., Section 1324a,\n\nand operated by the United States Department of\n\nHomeland Security, known as the Basic Pilot Program,\n\nb. any equivalent federal program designated by the\n\nUnited States Department of Homeland Security or any\n\nother federal agency authorized to verify the work\n\neligibility status of newly hired employees, pursuant\n\nto the Immigration Reform and Control Act of 1986\n\n(IRCA), D.L. 99-603,\n\nc. any other independent, third-party system with an\n\nequal or higher degree of reliability as the programs,\n\nsystems, or processes described in this paragraph, or\n\nd. the Social Security Number Verification Service, or\n\nsuch similar online verification process implemented\n\nby the United States Social Security Administration;\n\n2. “Public employer” means every department, agency, or\n\ninstrumentality of the state or a political subdivision of the\n\nstate;\n\n3. “Subcontractor” means a subcontractor, contract employee,\n\nstaffing agency, or any contractor regardless of its tier; and\n\n4. “Unauthorized alien” means an alien as defined in Section\n\n1324a(h)(3) of Title 8 of the United States Code.","path":["OK Code","Title 25"],"source_url":"https://www.oklegislature.gov/OK_Statutes/CompleteTitles/os25.pdf","current_through":"2026-08-14","vintage":"open-us-law v2026.08, retrieved 2026-09-14","retrieved_at":"2026-09-14T18:32:36Z","sha256":"27faee4eebbdb08c89ed756e999887decc4067df0a5da560a71d06a967c5b49e","source_id":"us-ok","stale":false,"prev":"us-ok/okla.-stat.-tit.-25-25-1311","next":"us-ok/okla.-stat.-tit.-25-25-1313"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
