Stat. tit. 25, § 25-1704","heading":"Powers of local commissions","body":"A local commission may have the following powers in addition to\n\npowers authorized by other laws:\n\n1. To employ an executive director and other employees and\n\nagents and fix their compensation;\n\n2. To cooperate with individuals and state, local, and other\n\nagencies, both public and private, including agencies of the federal\n\ngovernment and other states and municipalities;\n\n3. To accept gifts, bequests, grants, or other payments, public\n\nor private, to help finance its activities;\n\n4. To receive, initiate, investigate, and seek to conciliate\n\ncomplaints alleging violations of Section 1101 et seq. of this title\n\nor of an ordinance prohibiting discrimination because of race,\n\ncolor, religion, sex, national origin, age, disability, or genetic\n\ninformation or legislation establishing the commission;\n\n5. To make studies appropriate to effectuate its purposes and\n\npolicies and to make the results thereof available to the public;\n\nand\n\n6.
