Stat. tit. 26, § 26-12-119","heading":"Incumbents - Irrevocable letter of resignation -","body":"Special elections.\n\nExcept as otherwise provided by law, an incumbent in any\n\nelective office for which a vacancy is filled by special election\n\ncalled by the Governor may file with the Oklahoma Secretary of State\n\nan irrevocable resignation in writing which states that the\n\nresignation will not become effective immediately, but rather will\n\nbecome effective on some date certain. Upon receipt of the\n\nirrevocable letter of resignation, the Governor shall set the date\n\nfor the special election.
