To be eligible to be a candidate for member of the board of\n\neducation of a school district or technology center school district,\n\na person must have resided in the district or, if the board seat is\n\nin an independent district, have resided in that district for at\n\nleast six (6) months preceding the first day of the filing period,\n\nand have been a registered voter registered with the county election\n\nboard at an address located within the geographical boundaries of\n\nthe district for six (6) months preceding the first day of the\n\nfiling period. Beginning May 1, 1990, no person shall be eligible\n\nto be a candidate for or elected to be a member of the board of\n\neducation of a school district or technology center school district\n\nunless the person has been awarded a high school diploma or\n\ncertificate of high school equivalency. In school districts that\n\nare divided into election districts, a candidate must have resided\n\nin the district for at least six (6) months preceding the first day\n\nof the filing period and have been a registered voter registered\n\nwith the county election board at an address located within the\n\ngeographical boundaries of the election district for six (6) months\n\npreceding the first day of the filing period. Beginning May 1,\n\n1990, no person shall be eligible to be a candidate for or elected\n\nto be a member of the board of education unless the person has been\n\nawarded a high school diploma or certificate of high school\n\nequivalency.\n\nB. To be eligible to vote in a school district election or a\n\ntechnology center school district election, a person must be\n\nregistered with the county election board at an address located\n\nwithin the geographical boundaries of the district.
