If a voter’s mistake or omission in the completion of a\n\ndocument under the Uniform Military and Overseas Voters Act does not\n\nprevent determining whether a covered voter is eligible to vote, the\n\nmistake or omission does not invalidate the document. Failure to\n\nsatisfy a nonsubstantive requirement, such as using paper or\n\nenvelopes of a specified size or weight, does not invalidate a\n\ndocument submitted under this act. In a write-in ballot authorized\n\nby this act, if the intention of the voter is discernable under this\n\nstate’s uniform definition of what constitutes a vote, an\n\nabbreviation, misspelling, or other minor variation in the form of\n\nthe name of a candidate or a political party must be accepted as a\n\nvalid vote.\n\nB. Notarization is not required for the execution of a document\n\nunder this act. An authentication, other than the declaration\n\nspecified in Section 13 of this act or the declaration on the\n\nfederal postcard application and federal write-in absentee ballot,\n\nis not required for execution of a document under this act.
