Stat. tit. 26, § 26-5-126","heading":"Hearing of contest","body":"The petition may be heard without formal pleadings being filed\n\nin answer or reply thereto. The election board with whom the\n\npetition is filed shall have the authority to issue subpoenas and\n\ncompel the attendance of witnesses and the production of evidence.\n\nSuch election board shall have the authority to receive the\n\ntestimony of witnesses under oath, said oath to be administered by\n\nthe secretary of the board. At the conclusion of the hearing, the\n\nboard shall render its decision and the vote of the individual\n\nmembers in writing.
