The Oklahoma Legislature hereby declares that the purpose of\n\nthe Oklahoma Brownfields Voluntary Redevelopment Act is to:\n\n1. Provide for the establishment of a voluntary program by the\n\nDepartment of Environmental Quality;\n\n2. Foster the voluntary redevelopment and reuse of brownfields\n\nby limiting the liability of property owners, lenders, lessees, and\n\nsuccessors and assigns from administrative penalties assessed by the\n\nDepartment and civil liability with regard to the remedial actions\n\ntaken by the participant for environmental contamination caused by\n\npollution, as required by a consent order, if the remedial action is\n\nnot performed in a reckless or negligent manner; and\n\n3. Provide for a risk-based system for all applicable sites\n\nbased on the proposed use of the site.\n\nB. The Oklahoma Brownfields Voluntary Redevelopment Act shall\n\nnot be construed to authorize or encourage any person or other legal\n\nentity to cause or increase pollution, to avoid compliance with\n\nstate and federal laws and regulations concerning pollution or to in\n\nany manner escape responsibility for maintaining environmentally\n\nsound operations.","path":["OK Code","Title 27A"],"source_url":"https://www.oklegislature.gov/OK_Statutes/CompleteTitles/os27A.pdf","current_through":"2026-08-14","vintage":"open-us-law v2026.08, retrieved 2026-09-14","retrieved_at":"2026-09-14T18:32:36Z","sha256":"b3f483860b225e8c5fe10d28a3ac73a53415284d02bb384ec1ffec6834f49a77","source_id":"us-ok","stale":false,"prev":"us-ok/okla.-stat.-tit.-27a-27a-2-15-101","next":"us-ok/okla.-stat.-tit.-27a-27a-2-15-103"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
