Stat. tit. 30, § 30-3-309","heading":"Special jurisdiction","body":"(a) A court of this state lacking jurisdiction under paragraphs\n\n(1) through (3) of Section 8 of this act has special jurisdiction to\n\ndo any of the following:\n\n(1) Appoint a guardian in an emergency for a term not to exceed\n\nninety (90) days for a respondent who is physically present in this\n\nstate;\n\n(2) Issue a protective order with respect to real or tangible\n\npersonal property located in this state;\n\n(3) Appoint a guardian or conservator for an incapacitated or\n\nprotected person for whom a provisional order to transfer the\n\nproceeding from another state has been issued under procedures\n\nsimilar to Section 15 of this act.\n\n(b) If a petition for the appointment of a guardian in an\n\nemergency is brought in this state and this state was not the\n\nrespondent’s home state on the date the petition was filed, the\n\ncourt shall dismiss the proceeding at the request of the court of\n\nthe home state, if any, whether dismissal is requested before or\n\nafter the emergency appointment.","path":["OK Code","Title 30"],"source_url":"https://www.oklegislature.gov/OK_Statutes/CompleteTitles/os30.pdf","current_through":"2026-08-14","vintage":"open-us-law v2026.08, retrieved 2026-09-14","retrieved_at":"2026-09-14T18:32:36Z","sha256":"e25ad3b26d09ae4fb121b1410e6c479a058a72ab846ac7d4074b14328f34359a","source_id":"us-ok","stale":false,"prev":"us-ok/okla.-stat.-tit.-30-30-3-308","next":"us-ok/okla.-stat.-tit.-30-30-3-310"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
