Stat. tit. 30, § 30-7-102","heading":"Definitions","body":"As used in this act:\n\n1. “Designation” means a writing which is voluntarily executed\n\nin conformance with the requirements of Section 3 of this act and\n\nsigned by a parent and names a person to act as standby guardian;\n\n2. “Parent” means a genetic or adoptive parent or parent\n\ndetermined in accordance with the standards set forth in Section\n\n7700-201 of Title 10 of the Oklahoma Statutes, and includes a\n\nperson, other than a parent, who has physical custody of a child and\n\nwho has either been awarded custody by a court or claims a right to\n\ncustody;\n\n3. “Qualified parent” means a parent who has become unavailable\n\ndue to a military deployment, court proceeding, incapacity, or other\n\nmatter, as evidenced in writing, by a court of appropriate\n\njurisdiction or by a state or the federal government;\n\n4. “Standby guardian” means a person who, in accordance with\n\nthis act, is designated in writing or approved by the court to\n\ntemporarily assume the duties of guardian of the person or guardian\n\nof the property, or both, of a minor child on behalf of or in\n\nconjunction with a qualified parent upon the occurrence of a\n\ntriggering event; and\n\n5. “Triggering event” means the event upon the occurrence of\n\nwhich the standby guardian may be authorized to act.","path":["OK Code","Title 30"],"source_url":"https://www.oklegislature.gov/OK_Statutes/CompleteTitles/os30.pdf","current_through":"2026-08-14","vintage":"open-us-law v2026.08, retrieved 2026-09-14","retrieved_at":"2026-09-14T18:32:36Z","sha256":"e592c456a631422c3cfe2ffc0c30d92a8147e7e7ff4f7fc5aedf4935649ca430","source_id":"us-ok","stale":false,"prev":"us-ok/okla.-stat.-tit.-30-30-7-101","next":"us-ok/okla.-stat.-tit.-30-30-7-103"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
