Stat. tit. 34, § 34-22","heading":"Canvass of returns","body":"Whenever any measure or proposition is submitted to a vote by\n\nthe initiative or referendum, it shall be the duty of the precinct\n\nelection board of the precinct to make and transmit to the county\n\nelection board the returns thereof in the same manner that they make\n\ntheir returns in the case of an election of public officers,\n\ntransmitting to such county election board a certificate of the\n\ntotal number of electors voting in such elections; and the county\n\nelection board shall keep a record showing such total number of\n\nvotes cast in each of such precincts as shown by such returns.\n\nShould the proposition be one covering the state at large, or any\n\ndistrict therein, or be of such other nature as to require it the\n\ncounty election board shall certify the result of such election to\n\nthe State Election Board in the same manner as it certifies the\n\nresult of election for public officers, and such county election\n\nboard shall transmit to the State Election Board a certificate\n\nshowing the total number of votes cast at any such election.
