Stat. tit. 36, § 36-2202","heading":"Definitions","body":"As used in the Oklahoma Medical Professional Liability Trusts\n\nAct:\n\n1. “Allied health care professional” shall mean a physician’s\n\nassistant, a certified registered nurse anesthetist or a nurse\n\npractitioner who is duly licensed by the appropriate licensing\n\nentity of the state and is supervised or employed by a physician\n\nand/or health care institution;\n\n2. “Association” shall mean a nonprofit corporation that has\n\nbeen in continuous existence for a period of at least ten (10)\n\nyears, the purpose of which is to federate into one organization all\n\nduly licensed physicians, allied health care professionals and/or\n\nhealth care institutions in this state;\n\n3. “Commissioner” shall mean the Insurance Commissioner;\n\n4. “Department” shall mean the Insurance Department;\n\n5. “Health care institutions” shall mean hospitals, outpatient\n\ntreatment facilities and facilities licensed pursuant to the Nursing\n\nHome Care Act;\n\n6. “Medical professional liability claim” shall mean a claim or\n\ncause of action against a physician and/or a health care institution\n\nfor treatment, lack of treatment, or other claimed departure from\n\naccepted standards of health care or safety which proximately\n\nresults in injury to or death of the patient, whether the patient’s\n\nclaim or cause of action sounds in tort or contract;\n\n7. “Physician” shall mean a doctor of medicine or osteopathy\n\nlegally authorized to practice medicine and surgery in this state;\n\n8. “Insureds” shall mean the physician, allied health care\n\nprofessional and health care institution members of an association\n\nthat have medical professional liability coverage through the trust.\n\n“Insureds” shall also include entities and individuals specified in\n\nsubsection C of Section 60 of this act if authorized by the trust;\n\nand\n\n9. “Trust” shall mean a medical professional liability trust\n\ncreated pursuant to the Oklahoma Medical Professional Liability\n\nTrusts Act.","path":["OK Code","Title 36"],"source_url":"https://www.oklegislature.gov/OK_Statutes/CompleteTitles/os36.pdf","current_through":"2026-08-14","vintage":"open-us-law v2026.08, retrieved 2026-09-14","retrieved_at":"2026-09-14T18:32:36Z","sha256":"a91b2cb9e34abef39706aa6602c82e6e1f91a56cd68de829d264277388f07aff","source_id":"us-ok","stale":false,"prev":"us-ok/okla.-stat.-tit.-36-36-2201","next":"us-ok/okla.-stat.-tit.-36-36-2203"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
