A society shall operate for the benefit of members and their\n\nbeneficiaries by:\n\n1. Providing benefits as specified in Section 16 of this act;\n\nand\n\n2. Operating for one or more social, intellectual, educational,\n\ncharitable, benevolent, moral, fraternal, patriotic or religious\n\npurposes for the benefit of its members, which may also be extended\n\nto others.\n\nSuch purposes may be carried out directly by the society or\n\nindirectly through subsidiary corporations or affiliated\n\norganizations.\n\nB. Every society shall have the power to adopt laws and rules\n\nfor the government of the society, the admission of its members, and\n\nthe management of its affairs.
