A domestic society may amend its laws in accordance with the\n\nprovisions thereof by action of its supreme governing body at any\n\nregular or special meeting thereof or, if its laws so provide, by\n\nreferendum. The referendum may be held in accordance with the\n\nprovisions of its laws by the vote of delegates or representatives\n\nof voting members or by the vote of local lodges. A society may\n\nprovide for voting by mail. No amendment submitted for adoption by\n\nreferendum shall be adopted unless, within six (6) months from the\n\ndate of the submission thereof, a majority of the members voting\n\nshall have signified their consent to such amendment by one of the\n\nmethods herein specified.\n\nB. No amendment to the laws of any domestic society shall take\n\neffect unless approved by the Insurance Commissioner who shall\n\napprove such amendment if the Commissioner finds that it has been\n\nduly adopted and is not inconsistent with any requirement of the\n\nlaws of this state or with the character, objects and purposes of\n\nthe society. Unless the Commissioner shall disapprove any such\n\namendment within sixty (60) days after the filing of same, such\n\namendment shall be considered approved. The approval or disapproval\n\nof the Commissioner shall be in writing and mailed to the secretary\n\nor corresponding officer of the society at its principal office. In\n\ncase the Commissioner disapproves such amendment, the reasons\n\ntherefor shall be stated in such written notice.\n\nC. Within ninety (90) days from the approval thereof by the\n\nCommissioner, all such amendments, or a synopsis thereof, shall be\n\nfurnished to all members of the society either by mail or by\n\npublication in full in the official publication of the society. The\n\naffidavit of any officer of the society or of anyone authorized by\n\nit to mail any amendments or synopsis thereof, stating facts which\n\nshow that same have been duly addressed and mailed, shall be prima\n\nfacie evidence that such amendments or synopsis thereof, have been\n\nfurnished the addressee.\n\nD. Every foreign or alien society authorized to do business in\n\nthis state shall file with the Commissioner a duly certified copy of\n\nall amendments of, or additions to, its laws within ninety (90) days\n\nafter enactment.\n\nE.
