Nothing contained in this article shall be so construed as\n\nto affect or apply to:\n\n1. Grand or subordinate lodges of societies, orders or\n\nassociations now doing business in this state which provide benefits\n\nexclusively through local or subordinate lodges;\n\n2. Orders, societies or associations which admit to membership\n\nonly persons engaged in one or more crafts or hazardous occupations,\n\nin the same or similar lines of business, insuring only their own\n\nmembers and their families, and the ladies' societies or ladies'\n\nauxiliaries to such orders, societies or associations;\n\n3. Domestic societies which limit their membership to employees\n\nof a particular city or town, designated firm, business house or\n\ncorporation which provide for a death benefit of not more than Four\n\nHundred Dollars ($400.00) or disability benefits of not more than\n\nThree Hundred Fifty Dollars ($350.00) to any person in any one (1)\n\nyear, or both; or\n\n4. Domestic societies or associations of a purely religious,\n\ncharitable or benevolent description, which provide for a death\n\nbenefit of not more than Four Hundred Dollars ($400.00) or for\n\ndisability benefits of not more than Three Hundred Fifty Dollars\n\n($350.00) to any one person in any one (1) year, or both.\n\nB. Any such society or association described in paragraph 3 or\n\nparagraph 4 of subsection A of this section which provides for death\n\nor disability benefits for which benefit certificates are issued,\n\nand any such society or association included in subsection D of this\n\nsection which has more than one thousand members, shall not be\n\nexempted from the provisions of this article but shall comply with\n\nall requirements thereof.\n\nC. No society which, by the provisions of this section, is\n\nexempt from the requirements of this article, except any society\n\ndescribed in paragraph 2 of subsection A of this section, shall give\n\nor allow or promise to give or allow to any person any compensation\n\nfor procuring new members.\n\nD. Every society which provides for benefits in case of death\n\nor disability resulting solely from accident, and which does not\n\nobligate itself to pay natural death or sick benefits shall have all\n\nof the privileges and be subject to all the applicable provisions\n\nand regulations of this article; provided, however, the provisions\n\nthereof relating to medical examination, valuations of benefit\n\ncertificates, and incontestability, shall not apply to such society.\n\nE. The Insurance Commissioner may require from any society or\n\nassociation, by examination or otherwise, such information as will\n\nenable the Commissioner to determine whether such society or\n\nassociation is exempt from the provisions of this article.\n\nF.
