The provisions of the Life Insurance and Annuity\n\nPolicyholders Protection Act shall apply to life insurance and\n\nannuity policies which cover residents of this state and which are\n\nsolicited and issued by insurance corporations, fraternal benefit\n\nsocieties, associations, or other institutions which issue life\n\ninsurance or annuity policies.\n\nB. The provisions of the Life Insurance and Annuity\n\nPolicyholders Protection Act shall not apply to:\n\n1. credit life insurance policies; or\n\n2. group life insurance policies or group annuity policies; or\n\n3. contracts issued in connection with employee benefits or welfare\n\nplans as defined by the Federal Employee Retirement Income Security\n\nAct of 1974 (ERISA), Public Law 93-406, as amended; or\n\n4. the exercise by an insured of an existing contractual right\n\nwith the same insurer for the purchase of additional insurance under\n\na guaranteed insurability provision or conversion option or any\n\nother contractual policy change privilege; or\n\n5. short-term nonrenewable life insurance policies written to\n\ncover periods of thirty-one (31) days or less; or\n\n6. an existing nonconvertible term life insurance policy which\n\nwill expire in five (5) years or less and which cannot be renewed;\n\nor\n\n7. a proposed life insurance policy that is to replace life\n\ninsurance under a binding or conditional receipt issued by the same\n\ncompany issuing the policy which is to be replaced.","path":["OK Code","Title 36"],"source_url":"https://www.oklegislature.gov/OK_Statutes/CompleteTitles/os36.pdf","current_through":"2026-08-14","vintage":"open-us-law v2026.08, retrieved 2026-09-14","retrieved_at":"2026-09-14T18:32:36Z","sha256":"3533c3178016adb705cb6b942698080580c8f1e0fc780980a8ff13714dbd4905","source_id":"us-ok","stale":false,"prev":"us-ok/okla.-stat.-tit.-36-36-4031","next":"us-ok/okla.-stat.-tit.-36-36-4033"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
