Stat. tit. 36, § 36-6974","heading":"Credentials — Reimbursement and requirements for","body":"physicians and optometrists — Subcontracts.\n\nA. 1. No agreement between an insurer or a prepaid vision plan\n\nand a vision care provider shall require that a provider participate\n\nwith or be credentialed by any specific prepaid vision plan as a\n\ncondition for participation in the health care network of the\n\ninsurer to provide covered services to its enrollees.\n\n2. In the event that a vision care provider is credentialed by\n\nan insurer or vision care plan organization, no insurer or vision\n\ncare plan organization shall construe re-credentialing as re-\n\ncontracting with a vision care provider. All contracts shall be\n\ndistinct and separate documents from any credentialing materials.\n\nB. Any insurer issuing or renewing a health benefit plan or\n\nprepaid vision plan which provides coverage for services rendered by\n\na duly licensed physician or osteopath that are within the scope of\n\npractice of a duly licensed optometrist shall provide the same\n\nreimbursement for services to optometrists as allowed for those\n\nservices rendered by physicians or osteopaths.\n\nC. No insurer or prepaid vision plan organization shall require\n\nan optometrist to meet terms and conditions that are not required of\n\na physician or osteopath as a condition for participation in its\n\nprovider network for the provision of services that are within the\n\nscope of practice of an optometrist.\n\nD. If a vision care provider enters into any subcontract\n\nagreement with another provider to provide his or her licensed\n\nhealth care services to the enrollee, dependent of the enrollee, or\n\nan enrollee of a managed care plan where the subcontracted provider\n\nwill bill the managed care plan or enrollee directly for the\n\nsubcontracted services, the subcontract agreement shall meet all\n\nrequirements of this act.","path":["OK Code","Title 36"],"source_url":"https://www.oklegislature.gov/OK_Statutes/CompleteTitles/os36.pdf","current_through":"2026-08-14","vintage":"open-us-law v2026.08, retrieved 2026-09-14","retrieved_at":"2026-09-14T18:32:36Z","sha256":"2d09ceb113be2dc8d59cc22b06c9af58a29f81508d6a484e5297fc929c586be5","source_id":"us-ok","stale":false,"prev":"us-ok/okla.-stat.-tit.-36-36-6973","next":"us-ok/okla.-stat.-tit.-36-36-6975"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
