As used in this section:\n\n1. “Anesthesia time” means the period beginning when an\n\nanesthesia practitioner begins to prepare the patient for anesthesia\n\nservices in the operating room or an equivalent area and ends when\n\nthe anesthesia practitioner is no longer furnishing anesthesia\n\nservices to the patient. In counting anesthesia time for services\n\nfurnished, the anesthesia practitioner may include blocks of time\n\naround an interruption in anesthesia time provided the anesthesia\n\npractitioner is furnishing continuous anesthesia care within the\n\ntime periods around the interruption;\n\n2. “Payments for anesthesia service” means the prevailing\n\nmedical coding and billing standards in the professional medical\n\nbilling community including, but not limited to, current AMA CPT\n\nCodebook, Medicare Claims Processing Manual, and American Society of\n\nAnesthesiologists guidance. Payment for anesthesia services is\n\nbased on base plus time unit together multiplied by an anesthesia\n\nconversion factor. Anesthesia time units are recognized in\n\nappropriate time intervals that must add up to the duration of the\n\nanesthesia time; and\n\n3. “Insurer” shall have the same meaning as defined in Section\n\n1250.2 of Title 36 of the Oklahoma Statutes.\n\nB. No insurer shall establish, implement, or enforce any\n\npolicy, practice, or procedure which:\n\n1. Imposes a time limit on the amount of covered anesthesia\n\nservices provided during a medical or surgical procedure; or\n\n2.
