The mission of the Oklahoma State Athletic Commission shall\n\nbe to preserve and protect the health, safety and welfare of\n\ncombative sports event participants and the general public through\n\nthe effective regulation of combative sports in the State of\n\nOklahoma, while fostering an environment that expands existing\n\ncombative sports events and brings new events into the state.\n\nB. The Commission shall have the power and duty to:\n\n1. Promulgate rules and issue orders necessary to carry out the\n\npurposes of the Oklahoma State Athletic Commission Act, and enforce\n\nthe provisions of said act and the rules promulgated pursuant\n\nthereto;\n\n2. Assume jurisdiction over all matters relating to the\n\nlicensing of amateur and professional combative sports\n\npractitioners, including, but not limited to, mixed martial artists,\n\nkickboxers, professional boxers, corner persons, booking agents,\n\nmatchmakers, promoters, referees, judges, timekeepers, vendors,\n\nphysicians, announcers, clubs, and corporations associated with an\n\namateur or professional combative sports event, including, but not\n\nlimited to, a kickboxing event , mixed martial arts event, or\n\nprofessional boxing event related thereto;\n\n3. Act to halt the unlicensed promotion of professional\n\ncombative sports events and seek administrative, criminal, and civil\n\npenalties against those engaged in booking, matchmaking, and\n\npromoting unsanctioned events;\n\n4. Set license and permit fees pursuant to the requirements of\n\nthe Oklahoma State Athletic Commission Act;\n\n5. Conduct investigations into the qualifications of applicants\n\nfor licensure and registration;\n\n6. Conduct investigations and proceedings for alleged\n\nviolations of the Oklahoma State Athletic Commission Act and order\n\nor subpoena the attendance of witnesses, the inspection of records\n\nand premises, and the production of relevant books and papers\n\nnecessary to such investigations and proceedings;\n\n7. Develop and administer examinations for applicants for\n\nlicenses and permits; and\n\n8. Make such expenditures as may be necessary in the\n\nperformance of its duties.\n\nC. Any rule promulgated, order made, or action taken prior to\n\nJuly 1, 1999, by the Commissioner of Labor or the Department of\n\nLabor pursuant to the provisions of, or rules issued pursuant to,\n\nthe Oklahoma State Athletic Commission Act shall be considered valid\n\nand in effect unless amended, repealed, or rescinded by the\n\nCommission.\n\nD. Any valid license, permit, certificate, or registration\n\nissued prior to July 1, 1999, by the Commissioner of Labor pursuant\n\nto the Oklahoma State Athletic Commission Act, or rules promulgated\n\npursuant thereto, shall remain valid and in effect until it expires\n\npursuant to law or unless suspended or revoked by the Commission.\n\nAny application for a license, permit, certificate, or registration\n\nwhich is pending on June 30, 1999, is hereby transferred to the\n\nCommission.\n\nE. All personnel, powers, duties, responsibilities, fund\n\nbalances, encumbrances, obligations, and property, which shall\n\ninclude records, furniture, and equipment of the Department of Labor\n\nrelating to the regulation of combative sports, are hereby\n\ntransferred to the Oklahoma State Athletic Commission.","path":["OK Code","Title 3A"],"source_url":"https://www.oklegislature.gov/OK_Statutes/CompleteTitles/os3A.pdf","current_through":"2026-08-14","vintage":"open-us-law v2026.08, retrieved 2026-09-14","retrieved_at":"2026-09-14T18:32:36Z","sha256":"97a9188357ec59b304355a88a33c453e497070ff6f1ef2278c812fa954522afa","source_id":"us-ok","stale":false,"prev":"us-ok/okla.-stat.-tit.-3a-3a-604.1","next":"us-ok/okla.-stat.-tit.-3a-3a-604.3"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
