Stat. tit. 4, § 4-351","heading":"Driver of vehicle carrying livestock, domestic fowls or","body":"ratite - Permit or statement authorizing movement - Violations -\n\nPenalties.\n\nAny person who is the driver of any truck, automobile or other\n\nvehicle containing any livestock, domestic fowls or ratite or any\n\nslaughtered livestock, slaughtered domestic fowls or ratite or the\n\nbutchered portions of any of which he is not the owner and which is\n\nupon or being driven upon any land of which said driver is not\n\nowner, lessee, renter or tenant, or which is upon or being driven\n\nupon any highway, public street or thoroughfare, who fails to have\n\nin his possession and exhibit to any meat inspector, sheriff or\n\ndeputy sheriff upon demand a written permit authorizing said\n\nmovement, signed by the owner or caretaker of said livestock,\n\ndomestic fowls or ratite, or from the owner or person in control of\n\nthe land from which said driver began said movement, shall be fined\n\nnot more than Two Hundred Dollars ($200.00) for each head of\n\nlivestock in said movement, unless said driver upon demand of said\n\nmeat inspector, sheriff or deputy sheriff makes, signs and delivers\n\nto said meat inspector, sheriff or deputy sheriff a written\n\nstatement containing all information herein required to be included\n\nin permits. Said permit or statement shall contain a description of\n\neach head of livestock, domestic fowls and ratites, and the place of\n\norigin thereof, including the name of ranch, market center, packing\n\nhouse or other place, and the kind, breed, color and marks and\n\nbrands of such livestock, domestic fowls or ratites, if there be\n\nany. Failure or refusal of such driver to exhibit to a person or\n\npeace officer said permit or to make said statement shall constitute\n\nprobable cause for any meat inspector, sheriff or deputy sheriff to\n\nsearch said truck or vehicle to ascertain if it contains any stolen\n\nlivestock, domestic fowls or ratites and to detain said movement a\n\nreasonable length of time to ascertain whether any stolen livestock,\n\ndomestic fowls or ratites are contained therein, but the person\n\ndetaining said movement shall provide adequate care and feed for\n\nsuch livestock, domestic fowls or ratites while said livestock,\n\ndomestic fowls or ratites are being detained.
