Stat. tit. 40, § 40-1-103","heading":"Declaration of state public policy","body":"DECLARATION OF STATE PUBLIC POLICY. As a guide to the\n\ninterpretation and application of this act, the public policy of\n\nthis state is declared to be as follows: Economic insecurity due to\n\nunemployment is a serious menace to the health, morals, and welfare\n\nof the people of this state. Unemployment is therefore a subject of\n\ngeneral interest and concern which requires appropriate action by\n\nthe Legislature to prevent its spread and to lighten its burden\n\nwhich now so often falls with crushing force upon the unemployed\n\nworker and his family. The achievement of social security requires\n\nprotection against this greatest hazard of our economic life. This\n\nobjective can be furthered by operating free public employment\n\noffices in affiliation with nationwide system of employment\n\nservices, by devising appropriate methods for reducing the volume of\n\nunemployment and by the systematic accumulation of funds during\n\nperiods of employment, thus maintaining purchasing power and\n\nlimiting the serious social consequences of unemployment. The\n\nLegislature, therefore, declares that in its considered judgment the\n\npublic good, and the general welfare of the citizens of this state\n\nrequire the enactment of this measure, under the police power of the\n\nstate for the establishment and maintenance of free public\n\nemployment offices and for the compulsory setting aside of\n\nunemployment reserves to be used for the benefit of persons\n\nunemployed through no fault of their own.","path":["OK Code","Title 40"],"source_url":"https://www.oklegislature.gov/OK_Statutes/CompleteTitles/os40.pdf","current_through":"2026-08-14","vintage":"open-us-law v2026.08, retrieved 2026-09-14","retrieved_at":"2026-09-14T18:32:36Z","sha256":"bcbdb6c21695e1f87a55d513f135a4ffc0987b99a4e2ffc2d11f4278b8eb0679","source_id":"us-ok","stale":false,"prev":"us-ok/okla.-stat.-tit.-40-40-1-102","next":"us-ok/okla.-stat.-tit.-40-40-1-104"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
