Stat. tit. 40, § 40-174","heading":"Scaffolding, etc., to be safeguarded","body":"All scaffolds, hoists, cranes, stays, ladders, supports, or\n\nother mechanical contrivances erected or constructed by any person,\n\nfirm or corporation in the state, for use in the erection,\n\nrepairing, alteration, removal, or painting of any house, building,\n\nbridge, viaduct, steel tank, standpipe, or other structure, shall be\n\nerected and constructed in a safe, suitable, and proper manner, and\n\nshall be so erected and constructed, placed and operated as to give\n\nproper and adequate protection to life and limb of any person or\n\npersons employed or engaged thereon, or passing under or by the\n\nsame, and in such manner as to prevent the falling of any material\n\nthat may be used or deposited thereon. Scaffolding or staging swung\n\nor suspended from an overhead support more than twenty (20) feet\n\nfrom the ground or floor, shall have, where practicable, a safety\n\nrail properly secured and braced, rising at least thirty-four (34)\n\ninches above the floor or main portion of such scaffolding or\n\nstaging and extending along the entire length of the outside and\n\nends thereto and such scaffolding or staging shall be so fastened as\n\nto prevent the same from swaying from the building or structure.","path":["OK Code","Title 40"],"source_url":"https://www.oklegislature.gov/OK_Statutes/CompleteTitles/os40.pdf","current_through":"2026-08-14","vintage":"open-us-law v2026.08, retrieved 2026-09-14","retrieved_at":"2026-09-14T18:32:36Z","sha256":"6f62cf033a0bae6cc5e64236478deea5f7fbb356b3120d6a8a60422cbf71fb40","source_id":"us-ok","stale":false,"prev":"us-ok/okla.-stat.-tit.-40-40-173.3","next":"us-ok/okla.-stat.-tit.-40-40-175"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
