Stat. tit. 40, § 40-177","heading":"Contractor or person in charge to comply with preceding","body":"sections - Penalty for violations - Prohibition of use of scaffolds,\n\netc.\n\nAny contractor or other person having charge of the erection,\n\nconstruction, repairing, alteration, removal or painting of any\n\nbuilding, bridge, viaduct, steel tank, standpipe or other structure,\n\nwithin the provisions of the three preceding sections, shall comply\n\nwith the terms thereof, and any such contractor or other person\n\nviolating any of the provisions of the three preceding sections\n\nshall, upon conviction thereof, be fined not less than Fifty Dollars\n\n($50.00) nor more than Two Hundred Dollars ($200.00), or imprisoned\n\nfor not less than thirty (30) days nor more than one (1) year, or\n\nboth such fine and imprisonment, in the discretion of the Court. In\n\naddition to the penalties herein provided, in the event of refusal\n\nor neglect of any person, firm or corporation, or his, or its agent,\n\nto comply with the provisions of the three preceding sections, the\n\nuse of any such scaffold, hoist, crane, stays, ladder, support, or\n\nother mechanical contrivance, or the erection, repairing,\n\nalteration, removal or painting of any building, bridge, viaduct,\n\nsteel tank, or other structure, may be prohibited by the Labor\n\nCommissioner, or inspector deputized by him, and a notice to that\n\neffect shall be posted upon the premises.
