This act shall be known and may be cited as the \"Oklahoma\n\nEmployment First Act\".\n\nB. All state agencies shall coordinate efforts and shall\n\ncollaborate within and among such agencies to ensure that state\n\nprograms, policies, procedures and funding support competitive\n\nintegrated employment of individuals with disabilities. All state\n\nagencies shall, whenever feasible, share data and information across\n\nsystems in order to track progress toward full implementation of\n\nthis act.\n\nC. State agencies are authorized to adopt rules to implement\n\nthis act.\n\nD. As used in this act:\n\n1. \"Competitive employment\" means work in the competitive labor\n\nmarket, or self-employment, that is performed on a full-time or\n\npart-time basis in an integrated setting with the opportunity for\n\nadvancement and for which a person with a disability is compensated\n\nat or above the minimum wage but not less than the customary wage\n\nand level of benefits paid by the employer for the same or similar\n\nwork performed by persons without disabilities;\n\n2. \"Disability\" means, with respect to an individual:\n\na. a physical or mental impairment that substantially\n\nlimits one or more major life activities of such\n\nindividual,\n\nb. a record of such an impairment, or\n\nc. being regarded as having such an impairment as defined\n\nin the Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990, as\n\namended;\n\n3. \"Integrated setting\" means, with respect to an employment\n\noutcome, a setting typically found in the community in which\n\napplicants or eligible individuals interact with persons without\n\ndisabilities, other than those who are providing services to those\n\napplicants or eligible individuals, to the same extent that\n\nindividuals without disabilities in comparable positions interact\n\nwith other persons; and\n\n4. \"Working age\" means sixteen (16) years of age or older in\n\naccordance with Section 71 of Title 40 of the Oklahoma Statutes.","path":["OK Code","Title 40"],"source_url":"https://www.oklegislature.gov/OK_Statutes/CompleteTitles/os40.pdf","current_through":"2026-08-14","vintage":"open-us-law v2026.08, retrieved 2026-09-14","retrieved_at":"2026-09-14T18:32:36Z","sha256":"ae9c68c79765aa207fa5b766b9d78568580d1b60f4c3689d919b914a77d6b8a8","source_id":"us-ok","stale":false,"prev":"us-ok/okla.-stat.-tit.-40-40-3-810","next":"us-ok/okla.-stat.-tit.-40-40-365"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
