Stat. tit. 40, § 40-79","heading":"Age and schooling certificates - Proof of age","body":"The age and schooling certificate shall be approved by the\n\nprincipal, headmaster, or equivalent administrative officer of the\n\nschool which the child attends or should be attending or by one of\n\nthe child's parents if the child is being schooled at home, who\n\nshall, for the purpose of this article, be empowered to administer\n\nan oath. The principal, headmaster, or equivalent administrative\n\nofficer of the school which the child attends or should be attending\n\nor by one of the child's parents if the child is being schooled at\n\nhome, shall approve such certificate only upon the application in\n\nperson of the child desiring employment accompanied by its parents,\n\nguardian or custodian, and after having received, examined and\n\napproved documentary evidence of age, showing that the child is\n\nfourteen (14) years of age, or over, which evidence shall consist of\n\none of the following named proofs of age, duly attested, and the\n\nproof accepted shall be specified in the certificate issued to the\n\nchild; the proof specified in subdivision (a) shall be required\n\nfirst, but if this is not available then one of the proofs specified\n\nin the succeeding subdivisions shall be required and in the order\n\ndesignated until the age of the child be established, as follows:\n\n(a) A birth certificate or transcript thereof issued by a\n\nregistrar of vital statistics or other officer charged with the duty\n\nof recording births which certificate or transcript thereof shall be\n\nprima facie evidence of the age of the child.\n\n(b) A certificate of baptism or transcript thereof, showing the\n\ndate of birth and place of baptism of the child.\n\n(c) A passport showing the age of the child; or a certificate\n\nof arrival in the United States, issued by the United States\n\nimmigration officer and showing the age of the child; or a life\n\ninsurance policy at least one (1) year old showing the age of the\n\nchild or other credible evidence as may be approved by the\n\nCommissioner.\n\nEvery employment certificate shall be signed, in the presence of\n\nthe officer issuing the same by the child in whose name it is\n\nissued.","path":["OK Code","Title 40"],"source_url":"https://www.oklegislature.gov/OK_Statutes/CompleteTitles/os40.pdf","current_through":"2026-08-14","vintage":"open-us-law v2026.08, retrieved 2026-09-14","retrieved_at":"2026-09-14T18:32:36Z","sha256":"d43dda5ffffe0add49ac3ea792ab80d7e72a8b7d357c5247c282e11a29a03ffd","source_id":"us-ok","stale":false,"prev":"us-ok/okla.-stat.-tit.-40-40-78","next":"us-ok/okla.-stat.-tit.-40-40-80"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
