Stat. tit. 41, § 41-40","heading":"Forfeiture of lease - Release from record - Penalty","body":"When any lease on land heretofore or hereafter taken shall have\n\nbecome forfeited, it shall be the duty of the lessee, his, her, or\n\ntheir heirs, successors, assigns or legal representatives, within\n\nsixty (60) days from the date this act shall take effect, if such\n\nforfeiture occurs prior thereto, and within sixty (60) days from\n\ndate of forfeiture of any and all other leases, to have such leases\n\nreleased from record in the county where such land is situated,\n\nwithout cost to the owner or owners thereof; and upon failure to\n\nmake such release, the owner or owners of the land under lease may\n\nnotify in writing the holder of the record title to such lease, that\n\nthe same has become forfeited and demand a release of record of such\n\nlease, as herein provided; and if the owner or holder of such lease,\n\nor the officer, agent, or other persons whose duty it is to release\n\nsuch lease, shall fail or neglect to release same within thirty (30)\n\ndays after demand to release has been made in writing, he shall be\n\nguilty of a misdemeanor and upon conviction shall be punished by a\n\nfine of not exceeding One Hundred Dollars ($100.00).","path":["OK Code","Title 41"],"source_url":"https://www.oklegislature.gov/OK_Statutes/CompleteTitles/os41.pdf","current_through":"2026-08-14","vintage":"open-us-law v2026.08, retrieved 2026-09-14","retrieved_at":"2026-09-14T18:32:36Z","sha256":"5e773a645df61886967f61d7d5b3a8ffc854dd87c5fda63c2d093523db7d386a","source_id":"us-ok","stale":false,"prev":"us-ok/okla.-stat.-tit.-41-41-4","next":"us-ok/okla.-stat.-tit.-41-41-5"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
