If the occupant abandons or surrenders possession of the\n\nself-service storage facility and leaves household goods,\n\nfurnishings, fixtures, or any other personal property in the self-\n\nservice storage facility, the owner may take possession of the\n\nproperty, and if, in the judgment of the owner, the property has no\n\nascertainable or apparent value, the owner may dispose of the\n\nproperty without any duty of accounting or any liability to any\n\nparty.\n\nB. If the occupant abandons or surrenders possession of the\n\nself-service storage facility and leaves household goods,\n\nfurnishings, fixtures, or any other personal property in the self-\n\nservice storage facility, the owner may take possession of the\n\nproperty, and if, in the judgment of the owner the property has an\n\nascertainable or apparent value, such property left with the owner\n\nfor a period of thirty (30) days or longer shall be conclusively\n\ndetermined to be abandoned and as such the owner may dispose of said\n\nproperty in any manner which he deems reasonable and proper without\n\nliability to the occupant or any other interested party; however,\n\nbefore the property is disposed of, the owner shall provide written\n\nnotice to the occupant, by certified mail with return receipt\n\nrequested, and the owner may dispose of the property fifteen (15)\n\ndays after the owner receives the return receipt document or fifteen\n\n(15) days after the owner receives a communication from the United\n\nStates Post Office that the written notice was not claimed by the\n\naddressee, whichever period occurs first.","path":["OK Code","Title 42"],"source_url":"https://www.oklegislature.gov/OK_Statutes/CompleteTitles/os42.pdf","current_through":"2026-08-14","vintage":"open-us-law v2026.08, retrieved 2026-09-14","retrieved_at":"2026-09-14T18:32:36Z","sha256":"867a3e50559a103b9d9bd2712a520b51b51324a86c58bffcbb356b6ac889b139","source_id":"us-ok","stale":false,"prev":"us-ok/okla.-stat.-tit.-42-42-197","next":"us-ok/okla.-stat.-tit.-42-42-198"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
