Stat. tit. 42, § 42-39","heading":"Keeper of inn, hotel, boardinghouse, or rooming house -","body":"Lien on baggage and other property - Limitation - Enforcement.\n\nThe keeper of any inn, hotel, boardinghouse, or rooming house,\n\nwhether individual, partnership or corporation, shall have a lien on\n\nthe baggage and other property in and about such inn, brought to the\n\nsame by or under the control of his guest or boarders for the proper\n\ncharges due him from such guests or boarders for accommodation,\n\nboard and lodging, and for all money paid for or advanced to them,\n\nnot to exceed the sum of Two Hundred Dollars ($200.00), and for such\n\nother extras as are furnished at the request of such guests, and\n\nsaid innkeeper, hotelkeeper or rooming house keeper shall have the\n\nright to detain such baggage and other property until the amount of\n\nsuch charges are paid and such baggage and other property shall be\n\nexempt from attachment or execution until such innkeeper's lien and\n\nthe cost of satisfying it are paid. The innkeeper, boardinghouse or\n\nhotelkeeper or rooming house keeper shall retain such baggage and\n\nother property upon which he has a lien for a period of ninety (90)\n\ndays, at the expiration of which time, if the lien is not satisfied,\n\nhe may sell such baggage and other property at public auction, first\n\ngiving notice of the time and place of sale by posting at least\n\nthree notices thereof in public places in the county where the inn\n\nor hotel is situated, and also by mailing a copy of such notice\n\naddressed to said guest or boarder at the place of residence\n\ndesignated by the register of such inn or hotel. And after\n\nsatisfying the lien and any costs that may accrue, any residue\n\nremaining shall, on demand, within six (6) months, be paid to such\n\nguest or boarder, and if not so demanded within six (6) months from\n\ndate of sale, such residue shall be deposited by such innkeeper with\n\nthe treasurer of the county; said residue shall be retained by the\n\ncounty treasurer for a period of one (1) year, and if not claimed\n\nwithin that time by the owner thereof, it shall be placed to the\n\ncredit of the school fund.","path":["OK Code","Title 42"],"source_url":"https://www.oklegislature.gov/OK_Statutes/CompleteTitles/os42.pdf","current_through":"2026-08-14","vintage":"open-us-law v2026.08, retrieved 2026-09-14","retrieved_at":"2026-09-14T18:32:36Z","sha256":"4db3d9ca7bebd73cda3e6046ca9014e6fe6918daa845dfaf1147ae5e9507652b","source_id":"us-ok","stale":false,"prev":"us-ok/okla.-stat.-tit.-42-42-35","next":"us-ok/okla.-stat.-tit.-42-42-4"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
