Stat. tit. 43A, § 43A-3-416","heading":"Standards - Treatment services and rules of operation -","body":"Guidelines.\n\nIn establishing standards for treatment services and rules of\n\noperation, the Authority and approved treatment facilities shall be\n\nguided by the following standards:\n\n1. If possible a consumer shall be treated on a voluntary\n\nrather than an involuntary basis.\n\n2. A consumer shall be initially referred to outpatient\n\ntreatment or intermediate care unless he is found to require\n\ninpatient treatment.\n\n3. A person shall not be denied treatment solely because he has\n\nwithdrawn from treatment against medical advice on a prior occasion\n\nor because he has relapsed after earlier treatment.\n\n4. No person shall be refused treatment because of sex or age\n\nunless the approved treatment facility which refuses treatment\n\nrefers the person to another approved treatment facility with which\n\nit has a written referral agreement and which provides services\n\nappropriate to the person’s sex or age group.\n\n5. Restrictions on acceptance of persons by an approved\n\ntreatment facility shall be published by the facility and made\n\navailable to the public.\n\n6. An individualized treatment plan shall be prepared and\n\nmaintained on a current basis for each consumer.\n\n7. Family members of the consumer shall be included in the\n\ntreatment services when possible and appropriate.\n\n8. Community-based treatment shall be encouraged and emphasized\n\nto make treatment available to persons in their home communities.\n\n9.
