Counties and municipalities may establish emergency service\n\npatrols. A patrol consists of persons trained to give assistance in\n\npublic places to persons whom the patrol has reasonable grounds to\n\nbelieve are mentally ill. Members of an emergency service patrol\n\nshall be capable of providing first aid in emergency situations and\n\nmay transport mentally ill persons to their homes and to and from\n\napproved treatment facilities and alternative facilities.\n\nB. Standards for the establishment, training, and conduct of\n\nemergency service patrols shall be adopted by the county or\n\nmunicipality and approved by the Department of Mental Health and\n\nSubstance Abuse Services. These standards shall comply with the\n\nstandards of the regional emergency medical services plan.\n\nC. All participating state and local agencies are directed to\n\ncoordinate with each other and cooperate in assisting the Department\n\nof Mental Health and Substance Abuse Services as needed. If\n\nspecifically requested in two or more regional emergency medical\n\nservice plans, the Department may establish a law enforcement\n\nbehavioral health emergency dispatch system.\n\nD. All emergency service patrols shall be required to keep\n\nreliable data on services made available and provided by the\n\nemergency service patrols.\n\nE.
