Within ten (10) days after the admission of a minor for\n\ninpatient treatment, the person in charge of the facility in which\n\nthe minor is being treated shall ensure that an individualized\n\ntreatment plan has been prepared by the person responsible for the\n\ntreatment of the minor. The minor shall be involved in the\n\npreparation of the treatment plan to the maximum extent consistent\n\nwith the ability of the minor to understand and participate. The\n\nparent or legal custodian of the minor or, if the minor is in the\n\ncustody of the Department of Human Services or the Office of\n\nJuvenile Affairs, the designated representative of the applicable\n\nagency, shall be involved to the maximum extent consistent with the\n\ntreatment needs of the minor.\n\nB. The facility shall discharge the minor when appropriate\n\nfacility medical staff determine the minor no longer meets the\n\nadmission or commitment criteria. If not previously discharged, a\n\nminor committed by a court for inpatient treatment shall be\n\ndischarged upon the expiration of a court order committing the minor\n\nfor inpatient treatment or an order of the court directing the\n\ndischarge of the minor.\n\nC. Prior to the discharge of the minor from inpatient\n\ntreatment, a discharge plan for the minor shall be prepared and\n\nexplained to the minor and the parent or the person responsible for\n\nthe supervision of the case. The plan shall include but not be\n\nlimited to:\n\n1. The services required by the minor in the community to meet\n\nthe needs of the minor for treatment, education, housing, and\n\nphysical care and safety;\n\n2. Identification of the public or private agencies that will\n\nbe involved in providing treatment and support to the minor;\n\n3. Information regarding medication which should be prescribed\n\nto the minor; and\n\n4. An appointment for follow-up outpatient treatment and\n\nmedication management.\n\nD. Upon the discharge of the minor from inpatient treatment, a\n\ndesignee of the facility shall inform the parent or person\n\nresponsible for the supervision of the case of the importance of\n\ndisclosing the mental health needs of the minor to the minor's\n\nresident school district as provided for in Section 1 of this act\n\nincluding disclosure in whole or in part of the minor's discharge\n\nplan prepared pursuant to subsection C of this section as\n\nappropriate and consistent with applicable law.","path":["OK Code","Title 43A"],"source_url":"https://www.oklegislature.gov/OK_Statutes/CompleteTitles/os43A.pdf","current_through":"2026-08-14","vintage":"open-us-law v2026.08, retrieved 2026-09-14","retrieved_at":"2026-09-14T18:32:36Z","sha256":"4906d8510f8b355a56fd103cbf75b9cc5ba06062af75afa1823161ffb35f0ab7","source_id":"us-ok","stale":false,"prev":"us-ok/okla.-stat.-tit.-43a-43a-5-512","next":"us-ok/okla.-stat.-tit.-43a-43a-5-521"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
