Stat. tit. 45, § 45-46.1","heading":"Acid mine drainage","body":"The Department of Environmental Quality, in cooperation with the\n\nDepartment of Mines is authorized and directed, within the limits of\n\nfederal funds available to the Department of Environmental Quality\n\nor any funds available to the Department of Mines, to study ways to\n\nremediate acid mine drainage produced from abandoned coal mines\n\nwithin this state, which the Legislature hereby finds to be a\n\nsignificant water pollution and water quality problem. The\n\nDepartment of Environmental Quality and the Department of Mines\n\nshall evaluate existing projects among local, state and federal\n\ngovernment agencies, and educational institutions, which address\n\nacid mine drainage.\n\nAny local, state, and educational institution within this state\n\nimplementing water quality projects which pertain to acid mine\n\ndrainage shall coordinate and cooperate with the Department of\n\nEnvironmental Quality and the Department of Mines to implement the\n\nprovisions of this section.
