Stat. tit. 45, § 45-520","heading":"Inspection for gas","body":"In all mines wherein explosive gas is generated, and also in all\n\nmines where the fire damp has generated, in sufficient quantities to\n\nbe detected by the ordinary safety lamp, every working place without\n\nexception, and all roadways shall be carefully examined immediately\n\nbefore each shift by a competent person, who shall be known as the\n\nfireboss, appointed by the superintendent and mine foreman for that\n\npurpose. The person or persons making such examination shall use no\n\nlight other than that enclosed in a safety lamp while making such\n\nexamination. In all cases, said examination shall be begun within\n\nthe shortest possible period of time necessary to complete such\n\ninspection before the regular time appointed to commence work, but\n\nin no case shall said examination be begun more than three (3) hours\n\nprior to the appointed time of each shift in commencing work, and it\n\nshall be the duty of the said fire boss to examine for all dangers\n\nlikely to be found, and after each examination to leave at the face\n\nand sides of every place so examined, evidence of his presence, and\n\nhe shall at each examination, inspect the entrance, or entrances, to\n\nthe worked out or abandoned parts, which are adjacent to the\n\nroadways and working places of the mines where fire damp is likely\n\nto accumulate, and in every working place and all other places where\n\nexplosive gas is discovered, also where immediate danger is found to\n\nexist from other causes he shall place a danger signal across the\n\nentrance to such places, which shall be a sufficient warning for all\n\npersons not to enter said place.","path":["OK Code","Title 45"],"source_url":"https://www.oklegislature.gov/OK_Statutes/CompleteTitles/os45.pdf","current_through":"2026-08-14","vintage":"open-us-law v2026.08, retrieved 2026-09-14","retrieved_at":"2026-09-14T18:32:36Z","sha256":"6f192a7d7dbfc80cf58ba3ae333955c3d6dfb9d1b4b264a3251bfabb8492a068","source_id":"us-ok","stale":false,"prev":"us-ok/okla.-stat.-tit.-45-45-519","next":"us-ok/okla.-stat.-tit.-45-45-521"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
