Stat. tit. 47, § 47-11-1002","heading":"Officers authorized to remove illegally stopped","body":"vehicle.\n\nA. Whenever any police officer finds a vehicle standing upon a\n\nhighway in violation of any of the provisions of subsection A of\n\nSection 11-1001 of this title, such officer is hereby authorized to\n\nmove such vehicle, or require the driver or other person in charge\n\nof the vehicle to move the same, to a position off the paved or\n\nmain-traveled part of such highway.\n\nB. 1. Law enforcement officers, using reasonable care, may\n\nremove from the roadway to the nearest safe place any disabled or\n\ndamaged vehicle or cargo as described in subsection B of Section 11-\n\n1001 of this title.\n\n2. Absent a showing of gross negligence, the law enforcement\n\nofficer, the employing agency, or any person acting under the\n\ndirection of the law enforcement officer is not liable for damage to\n\na vehicle or damage or loss to any portion of the contents or cargo\n\nof the vehicle when carrying out the provisions of this subsection.\n\nC. Whenever any police officer finds a vehicle unattended upon\n\nany bridge or causeway or in any underpass where such vehicle\n\nconstitutes an obstruction to traffic, such officer is hereby\n\nauthorized to provide for the removal of such vehicle to the nearest\n\ngarage or other place of safety.\n\nD. When any vehicle is left standing or abandoned upon a\n\nhighway in violation of this section and at such a place or in such\n\nmanner as to interfere or prevent the maintenance of said highway,\n\nthe Oklahoma Department of Transportation, Oklahoma Transportation\n\nAuthority or their authorized agents may remove such vehicle or\n\nrequest the driver or other persons in charge thereof to move the\n\nsame to some place of safety off the highway with charge to the\n\nowner of the vehicle.","path":["OK Code","Title 47"],"source_url":"https://www.oklegislature.gov/OK_Statutes/CompleteTitles/os47.pdf","current_through":"2026-08-14","vintage":"open-us-law v2026.08, retrieved 2026-09-14","retrieved_at":"2026-09-14T18:32:36Z","sha256":"8d23a005af2f07807a19723060cbd6849b20b7c8e1467f202d76e0a95da482ce","source_id":"us-ok","stale":false,"prev":"us-ok/okla.-stat.-tit.-47-47-11-1001","next":"us-ok/okla.-stat.-tit.-47-47-11-1003"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
