For the purposes of this section:\n\n1. \"Bicycle\" means a device as defined in subsection A of\n\nSection 1-104 of Title 47 of the Oklahoma Statutes; and\n\n2. \"Immediate hazard\" means a vehicle approaching a person\n\noperating a bicycle at a proximity and rate of speed sufficient to\n\nindicate to a reasonably careful person that there is a danger of\n\ncollision or accident.\n\nB. 1. A person operating a bicycle approaching a stop sign\n\nshall:\n\na. slow down,\n\nb. if required to avoid an immediate hazard, stop at the\n\nstop sign before entering the intersection, and\n\nc. cautiously enter the intersection and yield the right-\n\nof-way to pedestrians lawfully within an adjacent\n\ncrosswalk and to other traffic lawfully using the\n\nintersection.\n\n2. If a person operating a bicycle determines there is no\n\nimmediate hazard, he or she may cautiously make a right or left\n\nturn, or proceed through the intersection without stopping at the\n\nstop sign.\n\nC. 1. A person operating a bicycle approaching a steady red\n\ntraffic-control signal shall:\n\na. make a complete stop at the steady red traffic-control\n\nsignal before entering the intersection, and\n\nb. yield the right-of-way to all oncoming traffic that\n\nconstitutes an immediate hazard during the time that\n\nhe or she is moving across or within the intersection.\n\n2. If a person operating a bicycle determines there is no\n\nimmediate hazard, he or she may proceed through the steady red\n\ntraffic-control signal with caution.\n\n3. A person operating a bicycle may make a:\n\na. right-hand turn at a steady red traffic-control signal\n\nwithout stopping after slowing to a reasonable speed\n\nand yielding the right-of-way, if required, to\n\noncoming traffic that constitutes an immediate hazard,\n\nor\n\nb. left-hand turn onto a one-way street at a steady red\n\ntraffic-control signal after stopping and yielding to\n\noncoming traffic that constitutes an immediate hazard.","path":["OK Code","Title 47"],"source_url":"https://www.oklegislature.gov/OK_Statutes/CompleteTitles/os47.pdf","current_through":"2026-08-14","vintage":"open-us-law v2026.08, retrieved 2026-09-14","retrieved_at":"2026-09-14T18:32:36Z","sha256":"95a492ee98f48f1ad3f5eda27a63019c8a3d9e85b2cbfcfc8578ab143526e73b","source_id":"us-ok","stale":false,"prev":"us-ok/okla.-stat.-tit.-47-47-11-202","next":"us-ok/okla.-stat.-tit.-47-47-11-203"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
