Stat. tit. 47, § 47-11-206","heading":"Display of unauthorized signs, signals or markings","body":"(a) No person shall place, maintain or display upon or in view\n\nof any highway any unauthorized sign, signal, marking or device\n\nwhich purports to be or is an imitation of or resembles an official\n\ntraffic-control device or railroad sign or signal, or which attempts\n\nto direct the movement of traffic, or which projects any flashing or\n\nrevolving beams of light, or which hides from view or interferes\n\nwith the effectiveness of any official traffic-control device or any\n\nrailroad sign or signal, and no person shall place or maintain nor\n\nshall any public authority permit upon any street or highway any\n\ntraffic sign or signal bearing thereon any commercial advertising;\n\nprovided, however, that the governing board of any city or town may\n\npermit, under such conditions as the said board may deem proper,\n\ncommercial or other advertising upon any traffic sign located on\n\nstreets or highways within said city or town and not designated as\n\neither state or federal highways or extensions thereof.\n\n(b) This section shall not be deemed to prohibit the erection\n\nupon private property adjacent to highways of signs giving useful\n\ndirectional information and of a type that cannot be mistaken for\n\nofficial signs.\n\n(c) Every such prohibited sign, signal or marking is hereby\n\ndeclared to be a public nuisance and the authority having\n\njurisdiction over the highway is hereby empowered to remove the same\n\nor cause it to be removed without notice.","path":["OK Code","Title 47"],"source_url":"https://www.oklegislature.gov/OK_Statutes/CompleteTitles/os47.pdf","current_through":"2026-08-14","vintage":"open-us-law v2026.08, retrieved 2026-09-14","retrieved_at":"2026-09-14T18:32:36Z","sha256":"096146c5223b0431433cc94dce9f293d4d51a6605d2009238004a1eae67361c2","source_id":"us-ok","stale":false,"prev":"us-ok/okla.-stat.-tit.-47-47-11-205","next":"us-ok/okla.-stat.-tit.-47-47-11-207"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
