Stat. tit. 47, § 47-11-703","heading":"Stop signs and yield signs","body":"(a) Preferential right of way at an intersection may be\n\nindicated by stop signs or yield signs as authorized in Section 15-\n\n108 of this act.\n\n(b) Every stop sign and every yield sign shall be erected as\n\nnear as practicable to the nearest line of the crosswalk on the near\n\nside of the intersection or, if there is no crosswalk, then as near\n\nas practicable to the nearest line of the intersecting roadway,\n\nhowever such yield signs shall not be erected upon the approaches of\n\nbut one of the intersecting streets.\n\n(c) Every stop sign shall bear the word \"Stop\". Every yield\n\nsign hereafter erected or replaced shall bear the word \"Yield\".\n\nEvery stop sign and every yield sign shall at nighttime be rendered\n\nluminous by internal illumination, or by a floodlight projected on\n\nthe face of the sign, or by efficient reflecting elements in or on\n\nthe face of the sign.\n\n(d) Except when directed to proceed by a police officer or\n\ntraffic-control signal, every driver of a vehicle approaching a stop\n\nintersection indicated by a stop sign shall stop before entering the\n\ncrosswalk on the near side of the intersection or, in the event\n\nthere is no crosswalk, shall stop at a clearly marked stop line, but\n\nif none, then at the point nearest the intersecting roadway where\n\nthe driver has a view of approaching traffic on the intersecting\n\nroadway before entering the intersection.\n\n(e) The driver of a vehicle approaching a yield sign if\n\nrequired for safety to stop shall stop before entering the crosswalk\n\non the near side of the intersection or, in the event there is no\n\ncrosswalk, at a clearly marked stop line, but if none, then at the\n\npoint nearest the intersecting roadway where the driver has a view\n\nof approaching traffic on the intersecting roadway.","path":["OK Code","Title 47"],"source_url":"https://www.oklegislature.gov/OK_Statutes/CompleteTitles/os47.pdf","current_through":"2026-08-14","vintage":"open-us-law v2026.08, retrieved 2026-09-14","retrieved_at":"2026-09-14T18:32:36Z","sha256":"9a88d56b632ba5209d6f320f115f77b556b77505bbb1aeda65f66c32aa0036a5","source_id":"us-ok","stale":false,"prev":"us-ok/okla.-stat.-tit.-47-47-11-702","next":"us-ok/okla.-stat.-tit.-47-47-11-704"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
