Stat. tit. 47, § 47-1105.2","heading":"Vehicle identification numbers and certificate of","body":"origin for multi-stage vehicles - Transfer of ownership -\n\nCertificate of title.\n\nA. The first-stage manufacturer of a vehicle shall assign a\n\nvehicle identification number (VIN) to each completed or incomplete\n\nvehicle it manufactures.\n\nB. The VIN identifying the completed vehicle after multi-stage\n\nmanufacture shall be the first-stage manufacturer's VIN, and shall\n\nbe the only VIN which is recorded or data-entered in the files of\n\nService Oklahoma.\n\nC. Transfer of ownership of a completed vehicle shall be made\n\non the final-stage manufacturer's certificate of origin prescribed\n\nby Service Oklahoma pursuant to Section 1101 et seq. of this title.\n\nAll manufacturer's certificates of origin for a multi-stage vehicle\n\nshall accompany the application for title and the title document\n\nshall reflect the first-stage manufacturer's VIN and the final-stage\n\nmanufacturer's make, name and model year.\n\nD. Transfer of ownership of a multi-stage vehicle by first-\n\nstage manufacturer, multi-stage manufacturers, and final-stage\n\nmanufacturers shall be made as provided in this subsection.\n\n1. At the time that any first-stage manufacturer transfers to a\n\nmulti-stage manufacturer an incomplete vehicle that is to be sold,\n\nor registered for the first time in this state, the first-stage\n\nmanufacturer shall give the multi-stage manufacturer a\n\nmanufacturer's certificate of origin for the incomplete vehicle\n\nassigned to the multi-stage manufacturer by the first-stage\n\nmanufacturer. Ownership of the incomplete vehicle shall be\n\ntransferred to the multi-stage manufacturer on the manufacturer's\n\ncertificate of origin issued by the first-stage manufacturer; and\n\n2. At the time that any final-stage manufacturer transfers to a\n\ndealer, distributor, or other purchaser a completed vehicle that is\n\nto be sold, or registered for the first time in this state, the\n\nfinal-stage manufacturer shall give the dealer, distributor, or\n\nother purchaser all manufacturer's certificates of origin.\n\nOwnership of the completed vehicle shall be transferred from the\n\nfinal-stage manufacturer to its dealers or distributors or any other\n\npurchaser on the manufacturer's certificate of origin issued by the\n\nfinal-stage manufacturer. Subsequent transfers between a dealer and\n\na retail purchaser shall occur on the manufacturer's certificate of\n\norigin issued by the final-stage manufacturer.\n\nE. To obtain an original certificate of title for a multi-stage\n\nvehicle that is being registered for the first time in this state a\n\nvehicle that has not been previously registered in any other state,\n\nthe applicant shall be required to deliver, as evidence of\n\nownership, all manufacturer's certificates of origin and shall\n\notherwise comply with the provisions of Section 1105 of Title 47 of\n\nthe Oklahoma Statutes.","path":["OK Code","Title 47"],"source_url":"https://www.oklegislature.gov/OK_Statutes/CompleteTitles/os47.pdf","current_through":"2026-08-14","vintage":"open-us-law v2026.08, retrieved 2026-09-14","retrieved_at":"2026-09-14T18:32:36Z","sha256":"7f114d67445188aacab416412c338082b38a712d1d82a0792ab3fcabbdf00c96","source_id":"us-ok","stale":false,"prev":"us-ok/okla.-stat.-tit.-47-47-1105.1","next":"us-ok/okla.-stat.-tit.-47-47-1105.3"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
