Whenever any nonresident owning any motor bus, truck, truck-\n\ntractor, trailer or semitrailer, which has been registered under the\n\nlaws of another state and bears a current registration from such\n\nstate, brings such vehicle into this state, for the purpose of using\n\nthe vehicle for hire or other commercial purpose, for a temporary\n\nperiod of time not to exceed ninety (90) days, such person may,\n\nimmediately after entering this state, upon the filing of an\n\napplication therefor with Service Oklahoma, and the payment of a\n\nlicense fee equal to one-eighth (1/8) of the annual license fee\n\nrequired of such vehicle, register same for a period of thirty (30)\n\ndays in lieu of obtaining an annual registration and license\n\ntherefor; he may upon payment of one-fourth (1/4) of the annual\n\nlicense fee register it for a period of sixty (60) days or for\n\nninety (90) days upon the payment of three-eighths (3/8) of the\n\nannual license fee in lieu of obtaining annual registration and\n\nlicense therefor. Upon failure of any person to obtain or renew\n\nthis temporary license when first available, the fee due for the\n\nremaining portion of the year shall become due and must be paid.\n\nB. It will not be necessary for such person to obtain an\n\nOklahoma certificate of title evidencing ownership of such vehicle,\n\nif the applicant therefor has been issued a valid certificate of\n\ntitle or ownership for such vehicle by his home state. Service\n\nOklahoma will issue a certificate of registration covering each\n\ntemporary license provided by the terms of this section.\n\nC. Provided, however, that the provisions of this section for\n\ntemporary licenses shall not apply to the residents of any other\n\nstate when the laws of such other state do not provide temporary\n\nlicensing for approximately comparable license fees for vehicles\n\nbeing used in such other state by residents of Oklahoma under the\n\nsame or substantially similar purposes, terms and conditions; and,\n\nprovided further that, irrespective of the amount of the temporary\n\nlicense fees provided in this section, the amount of any temporary\n\nlicense fee for a vehicle of a resident of any such state shall be\n\ndetermined and fixed by Service Oklahoma in the amount, or the\n\napproximate total amount, of any license fee and any other taxes,\n\nincluding property and mileage taxes, required by the laws of such\n\nother state to be paid by a resident of Oklahoma making the same use\n\nof a similar vehicle in such state.","path":["OK Code","Title 47"],"source_url":"https://www.oklegislature.gov/OK_Statutes/CompleteTitles/os47.pdf","current_through":"2026-08-14","vintage":"open-us-law v2026.08, retrieved 2026-09-14","retrieved_at":"2026-09-14T18:32:36Z","sha256":"e0509f771d8169022a474cc786d1333fd83353254c7dd1cfd6f96c62816ac637","source_id":"us-ok","stale":false,"prev":"us-ok/okla.-stat.-tit.-47-47-1121","next":"us-ok/okla.-stat.-tit.-47-47-1123"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
