Any person, firm or corporation owning or possessing a\n\ncommercial vehicle who:\n\n1. Is a resident of the United States;\n\n2. Is required to register the vehicle under the laws of this\n\nstate;\n\n3. Is not authorized to drive the vehicle on the public roads\n\nof this state for lack of registration or reciprocity of this\n\nstate’s laws with the laws of the state in which the vehicle is\n\nregistered; and\n\n4. Operates the vehicle for commercial purposes;\n\nmay receive a temporary permit from the Corporation Commission. The\n\npermit shall be recognized in lieu of registration in this state.\n\nThe permit shall indicate the time and date of its issuance and\n\nshall be valid for a period not to exceed seventy-two (72) hours\n\nfrom such indicated time.\n\nB. A fee of Twelve Dollars ($12.00) shall be charged for the\n\nissuance of the temporary permit which shall be apportioned in the\n\nsame manner as other vehicle license fees are apportioned under the\n\nterms of the motor vehicle license and registration laws of this\n\nstate.\n\nC. The temporary permit shall not be issued to any person, firm\n\nor corporation owning or possessing a commercial vehicle, truck,\n\ntruck-tractor, trailer, semitrailer or motor bus, who has been\n\napprehended for violating the registration laws of this state. If\n\napprehended, the vehicle shall be immediately subject to such\n\nregistration laws. Possession of the temporary permit shall not\n\naffect any liability or duty which the owner or operator of a\n\nvehicle might otherwise have by law. An operator of a vehicle\n\npossessing an expired, altered or undated temporary permit shall be\n\ndeemed to be operating an unregistered motor vehicle and shall be\n\nsubject to registration and penalties therefor as provided by law.\n\nD. The Corporation Commission may enter into an agreement with\n\nany person or corporation located within or without the state for\n\ntransmission of temporary permits for a commercial vehicle by way of\n\na facsimile machine or other device when the Corporation Commission\n\ndetermines that such agreement is in the best interests of the\n\nstate.\n\nE. The Corporation Commission may enter into an agreement with\n\nany state for transmission of that state’s temporary permits for a\n\ncommercial vehicle by way of a facsimile machine or other device\n\nwhen the Corporation Commission determines that such agreement is in\n\nthe best interests of the state.\n\nF. Any provision of this act providing for proportional\n\nregistration under reciprocal agreements and the International\n\nRegistration Plan that relate to the promulgation of rules shall not\n\nbe subject to the provisions of Section 1151 of this title. The\n\nCorporation Commission may promulgate such rules as it deems\n\nnecessary to administer the provisions of this section. The\n\nCorporation Commission may prescribe an application form for the\n\ntemporary permit and such other forms as it deems appropriate.\n\nG. The provisions of this section shall not apply to vehicles\n\nentering this state for the express purpose of transporting the\n\nresources and equipment necessary to support production activities\n\nof the motion picture, television and video film industries\n\noperating within the state. Any such vehicle properly registered\n\nunder the laws of another state or not registered with this state\n\npursuant to the provisions of the International Registration Plan\n\nand used for the above-stated purpose shall not be subject to the\n\nregistration requirements as set forth in Section 1101 et seq. of\n\nthis title while conducting said business.","path":["OK Code","Title 47"],"source_url":"https://www.oklegislature.gov/OK_Statutes/CompleteTitles/os47.pdf","current_through":"2026-08-14","vintage":"open-us-law v2026.08, retrieved 2026-09-14","retrieved_at":"2026-09-14T18:32:36Z","sha256":"3a8aae96bb898b94a8e3ad1c08e0533f16caf6002a88dc1a09cc1f1b300d864d","source_id":"us-ok","stale":false,"prev":"us-ok/okla.-stat.-tit.-47-47-1123","next":"us-ok/okla.-stat.-tit.-47-47-1124.1"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
