Stat. tit. 47, § 47-1144","heading":"Methods of payment of fees and taxes - Licensed operator","body":"location hours of operation.\n\nA. Payments for any required registration fees, license plates\n\nor decals or excise taxes, except as otherwise provided by law, may\n\nbe made as follows:\n\n1. By the applicant's personal or company check if presented\n\nwithin the period of time required for purchase or renewal of the\n\nregistration and license plates or decals. At the time of\n\npresentment, the licensed operator may utilize a check verification\n\nsystem to confirm that there are sufficient funds to pay the check.\n\nUpon notification that there are insufficient funds, the licensed\n\noperator shall refuse to accept the check or deliver the license\n\nplate or decal. If a licensed operator fails to utilize the check\n\nverification system and the check is returned for nonpayment, the\n\nlicensed operator shall not receive any fees for the transaction.\n\nNo licensed operator shall be required to accept any check from any\n\nperson during any penalty period relating to that person's\n\nregistration; or\n\n2. By a nationally recognized credit or debit card issued to\n\nthe applicant. Service Oklahoma may add an amount equal to the\n\namount of the service charge incurred as a service charge for the\n\nacceptance of such credit card. For purposes of this paragraph,\n\n\"nationally recognized credit or debit card\" means any instrument or\n\ndevice, whether known as a credit card, credit plate, charge plate,\n\ndebit card or by any other name, issued with or without fee by an\n\nissuer for the use of the cardholder in obtaining goods, services or\n\nanything else of value on credit which is accepted by over one\n\nthousand merchants in this state. Service Oklahoma shall determine\n\nwhich nationally recognized credit or debit cards will be accepted\n\nby a licensed operator as payment for any required motor vehicle\n\nregistration fees, license plates or decals or excise taxes.\n\nProvided, however, Service Oklahoma must ensure that no loss of\n\nstate revenue will occur by the use of such card.\n\nB. Each licensed operator location shall be open a minimum of\n\nforty (40) hours per week, of which four (4) such hours per week\n\nshall be in the evening hours or on Saturday, subject to the\n\napproval of Service Oklahoma, except during such weeks that contain\n\na legal holiday prescribed by the statutes of this state. Provided\n\nthat Service Oklahoma may authorize a licensed operator to stay open\n\na lesser period of time if Service Oklahoma is satisfied that the\n\npublic is being properly served. Provided further, that there shall\n\nbe at least one licensed operator in each county open the hours\n\ndesignated in this section.
