Stat. tit. 47, § 47-116.14","heading":"Vehicles not registered or improperly registered","body":"In the event any vehicle is found with no registration, not\n\nproperly registered for the load carried, or improperly registered\n\nin any manner under the provisions of Section 116.2a et seq. of this\n\ntitle or any provisions of the motor vehicle license and\n\nregistration laws of this state, Corporation Commission enforcement\n\nofficers shall be authorized to seize and take such vehicle into\n\ncustody until such time as such vehicle is properly registered and\n\nthe license fee thereon is paid in full together with any penalty\n\nprovided by law plus the cost of seizure, including the reasonable\n\ncost of taking such vehicle into custody and storing it. Any load\n\non such vehicle shall be disposed of by the owner or operator of\n\nsuch vehicle. In the event such license fee and penalty together\n\nwith the cost of seizure and storage is not paid, the enforcement\n\nofficer shall proceed to sell such vehicle by posting not less than\n\nfive notices of sale in five different public places in the county\n\nwhere such property is located, one of such notices to be posted at\n\nthe place where the vehicle is stored; provided, a copy of such\n\nnotice shall also be sent by registered mail, return receipt\n\nrequested, to the last-known address of the registered owner of such\n\nvehicle in question. Such vehicle shall be sold at such sale\n\nsubject to the following terms and conditions:\n\n1. In the event the sale price is equal to, or greater than,\n\nthe total cost of sale, seizure and the fee and penalty, the\n\npurchaser shall be issued a certificate of purchase, license plate\n\nand registration certificate;\n\n2. In the event the sale price is less than the total costs of\n\nsale, seizure, and the fee and penalty, such vehicle shall be sold\n\nas junk to the highest bidder, whereupon the bidder shall receive a\n\ncertificate of purchase; and if such vehicle be dismantled, the\n\nrecord to such junked vehicle shall be canceled. If not dismantled,\n\nthe same shall forthwith be registered anew; and\n\n3.
