Stat. tit. 47, § 47-12-229","heading":"Standards and specifications for lights on vehicles or","body":"machinery operated by state or other government jurisdictions.\n\nA. The Department of Transportation shall adopt standards and\n\nspecifications applicable to headlamps, clearance lamps,\n\nidentification and other lamps on snow-removal equipment, when\n\noperated on the highways of this state in lieu of the lamps\n\notherwise required on motor vehicles by this chapter. Such\n\nstandards and specifications may permit the use of flashing lights\n\nfor purposes of identification on snow-removal equipment when in\n\nservice upon the highways. The standards and specifications for\n\nlamps referred to in this section shall correlate with and, so far\n\nas possible, conform with those approved by the American Association\n\nof State Highway Officials.\n\nB. It shall be unlawful to operate any snow-removal equipment\n\non any highway unless the lamps thereon comply with and are lighted\n\nwhen and as required by the standards and specifications adopted as\n\nprovided in this section.\n\nC. Flashing amber lights may be used on vehicles or machinery\n\nowned or operated by any agency of the state or by any county or\n\ncity when engaged in the performance of emergency work or on the\n\nconstruction or maintenance of highways.\n\nD.
