Every motor vehicle when operated upon a highway shall be\n\nequipped with a horn in good working order and capable of emitting\n\nsound audible under normal conditions from a distance of not less\n\nthan two hundred (200) feet, but no horn or other warning device\n\nshall emit an unreasonably loud or harsh sound. The driver of a\n\nmotor vehicle shall, when reasonably necessary to ensure safe\n\noperation, give audible warning with a horn but shall not otherwise\n\nuse such horn when upon a highway. No driver of any vehicle shall\n\nuse a horn when passing a person riding a bicycle, equine or animal-\n\ndrawn vehicle under normal conditions if no imminent danger of a\n\ncollision exists.\n\nB. No vehicle shall be equipped with nor shall any person use\n\nupon a vehicle any siren, except as otherwise permitted in\n\nsubsection D of this section.\n\nC. Any vehicle may be equipped with a theft alarm signal device\n\nwhich is so arranged that it cannot be used by the driver as an\n\nordinary warning signal. A theft alarm signal device shall not use\n\na siren, as described in subsection D of this section.\n\nD. Every authorized emergency vehicle shall, in addition to any\n\nother equipment and distinctive markings required by this title, be\n\nequipped with a siren, or similar device, capable of emitting sound\n\naudible under normal conditions from a distance of not less than\n\nfive hundred (500) feet and of a type approved by the Department of\n\nPublic Safety, but such siren shall not be used except when such\n\nvehicle is operated in response to an emergency call or in the\n\nimmediate pursuit of an actual or suspected violator of the law, in\n\nwhich said latter events the driver of such vehicle shall sound said\n\nsiren when reasonably necessary to warn pedestrians and other\n\ndrivers of the approach thereof.\n\nE. It shall be unlawful for any person to use a device capable\n\nof producing auditory warning signals similar to that on an\n\nauthorized emergency vehicle or to use audible signal equipment from\n\na motor vehicle for the purpose of causing any other motor vehicle\n\noperator to yield right-of-way and stop, or which actually causes\n\nany other motor vehicle operator to yield the right-of-way and stop,\n\nwhether intended or not.
