Whenever any truck, except a lightweight vehicle, or any\n\nbus, truck-tractor, trailer, semitrailer, or pole trailer, or any\n\nmotor vehicle towing a manufactured home is disabled upon the\n\ntraveled portion of any highway or the shoulder thereof outside of\n\nany municipality at any time when lighted lamps are required on\n\nvehicles, the driver of such vehicle shall display the following\n\nwarning devices upon the highway during the time the vehicle is so\n\ndisabled on the highway except as provided in subsection B of this\n\nsection:\n\n1. A lighted fusee, a lighted red electric lantern or a\n\nportable red emergency reflector shall be immediately placed at the\n\ntraffic side of the vehicle in the direction of the nearest\n\napproaching traffic.\n\n2. As soon thereafter as possible but in any event within the\n\nburning period of the fusee, the driver shall place three liquid-\n\nburning flares, or three lighted red electric lanterns or three\n\nportable red emergency reflectors on the traveled portion of the\n\nhighway in the following order:\n\na. one approximately one hundred (100) feet from the\n\ndisabled vehicle in the center of the lane occupied by\n\nsuch vehicle and toward traffic approaching in that\n\nlane,\n\nb. one approximately one hundred (100) feet in the\n\nopposite direction from the disabled vehicle and in\n\nthe center of the traffic lane occupied by such\n\nvehicle, and\n\nc. one at the traffic side of the disabled vehicle not\n\nless than ten (10) feet rearward or forward thereof in\n\nthe direction of the nearest approaching traffic. If\n\na lighted red electric lantern or a red portable\n\nemergency reflector has been placed at the traffic\n\nside of the vehicle in accordance with paragraph 1 of\n\nsubsection A of this section, it may be used for this\n\npurpose.\n\nB. Whenever any vehicle referred to in this section is disabled\n\nwithin five hundred (500) feet of a curve, hillcrest or other\n\nobstruction to view, the warning signal in that direction shall be\n\nso placed as to afford ample warning to other users of the highway,\n\nbut in no case less than one hundred (100) feet nor more than five\n\nhundred (500) feet from the disabled vehicle.\n\nC. Whenever any vehicle of a type referred to in this section\n\nis disabled upon any roadway of a divided highway during the times\n\nspecified in subsection B of Section 12-201 of this title, the\n\nappropriate warning devices prescribed in subsections A and E of\n\nthis section shall be placed as follows:\n\n1. One at a distance of approximately two hundred (200) feet\n\nfrom the vehicle in the center of the lane occupied by the stopped\n\nvehicle and in the direction of traffic approaching in that lane;\n\n2. One at a distance of approximately one hundred (100) feet\n\nfrom the vehicle, in the center of the lane occupied by the vehicle\n\nand in the direction of traffic approaching in that lane; and\n\n3. One at the traffic side of the vehicle and approximately ten\n\n(10) feet from the vehicle in the direction of the nearest\n\napproaching traffic.\n\nD. Whenever any vehicle of a type referred to in this section\n\nis disabled upon the traveled portion of a highway or the shoulder\n\nthereof outside of any municipality at any time when the display of\n\nfusees, flares, red electric lanterns or portable red emergency\n\nreflectors is not required, the driver of the vehicle shall display\n\ntwo red flags upon the roadway in the lane of traffic occupied by\n\nthe disabled vehicle, one at a distance of approximately one hundred\nabled upon the traveled portion of a highway or the shoulder\n\nthereof outside of any municipality at any time when the display of\n\nfusees, flares, red electric lanterns or portable red emergency\n\nreflectors is not required, the driver of the vehicle shall display\n\ntwo red flags upon the roadway in the lane of traffic occupied by\n\nthe disabled vehicle, one at a distance of approximately one hundred\n\n(100) feet in advance of the vehicle, and one at a distance of\n\napproximately one hundred (100) feet to the rear of the vehicle.\n\nE. Whenever any motor vehicle used in the transportation of\n\nexplosives or any cargo tank truck used for the transportation of\n\nany flammable liquid or compressed flammable gas is disabled upon a\n\nhighway of this state at any time or place mentioned in subsection A\n\nof this section, the driver of such vehicle shall immediately\n\ndisplay the following warning devices: One red electric lantern or\n\nportable red emergency reflector placed on the roadway at the\n\ntraffic side of the vehicle, and two red electric lanterns or\n\nportable red reflectors, one placed approximately one hundred (100)\n\nfeet to the front and one placed approximately one hundred (100)\n\nfeet to the rear of this disabled vehicle in the center of the\n\ntraffic lane occupied by such vehicle. Flares, fusees or signals\n\nproduced by flame shall not be used as warning devices for disabled\n\nvehicles of the type mentioned in this paragraph.\n\nF. The flares, fusees, red electric lanterns, portable red\n\nemergency reflectors and flags to be displayed as required in this\n\nsection shall conform with the applicable requirements of Section\n\n12-407 of this title.\n\nG.
