Stat. tit. 47, § 47-12-422","heading":"Restrictions on use of glass coating materials or","body":"sunscreening devices on windshields and windows.\n\nA. As used in this section:\n\n1. \"Glass coating material\" or \"sunscreening devices\" means\n\nmaterials, films, applications or devices which are used in\n\nconjunction with approved vehicle glazing materials for the purpose\n\nof reducing the effects of sun, but shall not include materials,\n\nfilms, applications, or devices with a mirrored or mirror-like\n\nfinish;\n\n2. \"Light transmission\" means the percentage of total light\n\nwhich is allowed to pass through a window;\n\n3. \"Luminous reflectance\" means the ratio of the amount of\n\ntotal light, expressed in percentages, which is reflected outward by\n\nthe glass coating material or sunscreening device to the amount of\n\ntotal light falling on the glass coating material;\n\n4. \"Manufacturer\" means:\n\na. a person who engages in the manufacturing or\n\nassembling of sunscreening devices, or\n\nb. a person who fabricates, laminates, or tempers glazing\n\nmaterials, incorporating the capacity to reflect or to\n\nreduce the transmittance of light during the\n\nmanufacturing process; and\n\n5. \"Window\" means the windshield, side or rear glass of a motor\n\nvehicle, including any glazing material, glass coating or\n\nsunscreening device.\n\nB. It is unlawful, except as provided by this section, for a\n\nperson to sell, install, or to operate a motor vehicle with any\n\nobject or material:\n\n1. Placed, displayed, installed, affixed, or applied upon the\n\nwindshield or side or rear windows; or\n\n2. So placed, displayed, installed, affixed, or applied in or\n\nupon the motor vehicle so as to obstruct or reduce a driver's clear\n\nview through the windshield or side or rear windows.\n\nC. It is unlawful for any person to place, install, affix, or\n\napply any transparent material upon the windshield or side or rear\n\nwindows of any motor vehicle if such material alters the color or\n\nreduces the light transmittance of such windshield or side or rear\n\nwindows except as provided in this section.\n\nD. This section shall not apply to:\n\n1. Side or back windows that have a substance or material in\n\nconjunction with glazing material that has a light transmission of\n\nat least twenty-five percent (25%) and a luminous reflectance of at\n\nmost twenty-five percent (25%);\n\n2. Front side wing vents and windows that have a substance or\n\nmaterial not attached in conjunction with glazing material which is\n\nused by a vehicle operator on a moving vehicle during daylight\n\nhours;\n\n3. Rearview mirrors;\n\n4. Adjustable nontransparent sun visors which are mounted\n\nforward of the side windows and are not attached to the glass;\n\n5. Signs, stickers, or other materials which are displayed in a\n\nforty-nine-square-inch area in the lower corner of the windshield\n\nfarthest removed from the driver or signs, stickers, or other\n\nmaterials which are displayed in a forty-nine-square-inch area in\n\nthe lower corner of the windshield nearest the driver;\n\n6. Direction, designation, or termination signs on buses, if\n\nthe signs do not interfere with the driver's clear view of\n\napproaching traffic;\n\n7. Rear window wiper motors;\n\n8. Rear window defrosters or defoggers;\n\n9. Rear truck lid handle or hinges;\n\n10. Side windows to the rear of the driver or back windows that\n\nhave a substance or material in conjunction with glazing material\n\nthat has a light transmission of at least ten percent (10%) and a\n\nluminous reflectance of at most twenty-five percent (25%) on all\n\nvehicles manufactured prior to 1996 year models, if the motor\n\nvehicle is equipped with outside mirrors on both left and right hand\n\nsides of the vehicle that are so located as to reflect to the driver\n\na view of the highway through each mirror for a distance of at least\n\ntwo hundred (200) feet to the rear of the motor vehicle;\n\n11. Transparent material which is installed, affixed, or\n\napplied to the topmost portion of the windshield if:\n\na. it does not extend downward beyond the AS-1 line or\nirrors on both left and right hand\n\nsides of the vehicle that are so located as to reflect to the driver\n\na view of the highway through each mirror for a distance of at least\n\ntwo hundred (200) feet to the rear of the motor vehicle;\n\n11. Transparent material which is installed, affixed, or\n\napplied to the topmost portion of the windshield if:\n\na. it does not extend downward beyond the AS-1 line or\n\nmore than five (5) inches from the top of the\n\nwindshield, whichever is closer to the top of the\n\nwindshield, and\n\nb. the material is not red or amber in color;\n\n12. All windows to the rear of the driver's seat in a vehicle\n\nlicensed as a bus, as defined by Section 1-105 of this title, or a\n\ntaxicab, as defined by Section 1-174 of this title;\n\n13. Vehicles not subject to registration in the State of\n\nOklahoma;\n\n14. Implements of husbandry as defined by this title; and\n\n15. Law enforcement vehicles which are owned by the state or a\n\npolitical subdivision of the state.\n\nE. This section shall not prohibit the use and placement of\n\nfederal, state, or political subdivision certificates on any window\n\nas are required by applicable laws.\n\nF. Louvered materials, when installed as designed, shall not\n\nreduce the area of the driver's visibility below fifty percent (50%)\n\nas measured on a horizontal plane. When such materials are used in\n\nconjunction with the rear window, the measurement shall be made\n\nbased upon the driver's view from inside the rearview mirror.\n\nG. A person who sells or installs any product regulated by this\n\nsection shall certify in a written statement, which shall be a part\n\nof the contract for sale or installation and shall be in bold-face\n\ntype, that:\n\n1. The product sold or installed is in compliance with the\n\nreflectivity and transmittance requirements of this section;\n\n2. The installation of the product to the driver's or\n\npassenger's side window may be illegal in some states.\n\nH. The Commissioner of Public Safety, upon application from a\n\nperson required for medical reasons to be shielded from the direct\n\nrays of the sun, supported by written attestation of such fact from\n\na physician licensed pursuant to Section 495 of Title 59 of the\n\nOklahoma Statutes, may issue an exemption from the provisions of\n\nthis section for a motor vehicle belonging to such person or in\n\nwhich such person is a habitual passenger. Any person may operate a\n\nvehicle or alter the color or reduce the light transmitted through\n\nthe side or rear windows of a vehicle in accordance with an\n\nexemption issued by the Commissioner.\n\nI.
