Stat. tit. 47, § 47-14-113","heading":"When the department of highways or local authorities","body":"may restrict right to use highways.\n\nThe Director of the Department of Transportation with respect to\n\nhighways on the state highway system, or local authorities with\n\nrespect to highways under their jurisdiction, as defined in Title 69\n\nof the Oklahoma Statutes, may prohibit the operation of vehicles on\n\nany such highways, or impose restrictions as to the weights of\n\nvehicles to be operated upon any state or federal highway or any\n\ndetour established for such highways, or for any bridge located upon\n\nsuch highways or detours, whenever any such highway, detour or\n\nbridge by reason of deterioration, rain, snow or other climatic\n\nconditions will be seriously damaged or destroyed unless the use of\n\nvehicles thereon is prohibited or the permissible weight reduced.\n\nSuch restrictions shall be effective when signs giving notice\n\nthereof are erected upon the highway, detour, bridge, or portion\n\nthereof affected by such action, and the Department of Public Safety\n\nhas been notified. The purpose of this provision with respect to\n\nlocal authorities is to give such authorities an opportunity to\n\nprevent or minimize an immediate threat of serious harm or\n\ndestruction to any highway, detour or bridge under their\n\njurisdiction due to rain, snow or other climatic conditions.\n\nNothing stated herein shall be construed to grant local authorities\n\nthe right to issue permits designed to regulate the use of\n\noverweight vehicles upon highways subject to their jurisdiction, and\n\nthe issuance of such permits is expressly prohibited.","path":["OK Code","Title 47"],"source_url":"https://www.oklegislature.gov/OK_Statutes/CompleteTitles/os47.pdf","current_through":"2026-08-14","vintage":"open-us-law v2026.08, retrieved 2026-09-14","retrieved_at":"2026-09-14T18:32:36Z","sha256":"c3b1689550f217faaa21deda0ba70a20502c6493c945bf21ec10ccfc4a7e2076","source_id":"us-ok","stale":false,"prev":"us-ok/okla.-stat.-tit.-47-47-14-111","next":"us-ok/okla.-stat.-tit.-47-47-14-114"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
