Stat. tit. 47, § 47-169.2","heading":"Claims - Procedure","body":"Every motor carrier of household goods, upon receipt of a claim\n\nin writing for loss of or damage to cargo during transportation,\n\nsome portion of which was performed by that carrier, regardless of\n\nthe form in which the claim is presented, shall:\n\n1. Acknowledge receipt of the claim in writing within thirty\n\n(30) days after receipt thereof by the motor carrier;\n\n2. Commence an investigation in good faith to determine whether\n\nthe carrier acknowledges or denies liability for the loss or damage;\n\n3. Either pay the claim in full, or as agreed to by mutual\n\ncompromise, or deny liability for loss or damage, in writing, within\n\nninety (90) days after receipt of the original claim by the carrier.\n\nSuch action shall not be withheld or postponed pending receipt of\n\npayment or acknowledgment of liability from connecting carriers; and\n\n4. Acknowledgment of liability shall be accompanied by payment\n\nin full for the value of property lost or damaged except where\n\nsubject to limited liability or released value. When a shipper,\n\nwithout prior approval from the consignee, elects to release a\n\nshipment at a value less than the full value of the property\n\nshipped, in the event of loss or damage, the shipper will indemnify\n\nto the consignee the difference between the released or limited\n\nvaluation paid by the carrier and the full value of the property\n\nshipped.
