Stat. tit. 47, § 47-1701","heading":"Definitions","body":"\n\nAs used in this act:\n\nA. \"Automated driving system or ADS\" means hardware and\n\nsoftware that are collectively capable of performing the entire\n\ndynamic task on a sustained basis, regardless of whether it is\n\nlimited to a specific operational design domain.\n\nB. \"Dynamic driving task\" or \"DDT\" means all of the real-time\n\noperational and tactical functions required to operate a vehicle in\n\non-road traffic, excluding the strategic functions such as trip\n\nscheduling and selection of destinations and waypoints and including\n\nwithout limitation:\n\n1. Lateral vehicle motion control via steering;\n\n2. Longitudinal vehicle motion control via acceleration and\n\ndeceleration;\n\n3. Monitoring the driving environment via object and event\n\ndetection, recognition, classification and response preparation;\n\n4. Object and event response execution;\n\n5. Maneuver planning; and\n\n6. Enhancing conspicuity via lighting, signaling and gesturing.\n\nC. \"DDT fallback\" means the response by the person or human\n\ndriver to either perform the DDT or achieve a minimal risk condition\n\nafter occurrence of a DDT performance-relevant system failure(s) or\n\nupon operation design domain exit, or the response by an automated\n\ndriving system to achieve minimal risk condition, given the same\n\ncircumstances.\n\nD. \"Fully autonomous vehicle\" means a motor vehicle equipped\n\nwith an automated driving system designed to function without a\n\nhuman driver as a level 4 or 5 system under SAE J3016B.\n\nE. \"Human driver\" means a natural person in the vehicle with a\n\nvalid license to operate a motor vehicle who controls all or part of\n\nthe dynamic driving task.\n\nF. \"Minimal risk condition\" means a condition to which a\n\nperson, human driver, or an ADS may bring a vehicle after performing\n\nthe DDT fallback in order to reduce the risk of a crash when a given\n\ntrip cannot or should not be completed.\n\nG. \"On-demand autonomous vehicle network\" means a\n\ntransportation service network that uses a software application or\n\nother digital means to dispatch or otherwise enable the\n\nprearrangement of transportation with fully autonomous vehicles for\n\npurposes of transporting passengers or goods including for-hire\n\ntransportation and transportation of passengers or goods for\n\ncompensation.\n\nH. \"Operational design domain\" or \"ODD\" means operating\n\nconditions under which a given automated driving system is\n\nspecifically designed to function including, but not limited to,\n\nenvironmental, geographical, and time-of-day restrictions, and the\n\nrequisite presence or absence of certain traffic or roadway\n\ncharacteristics.\n\nI. \"Person\" means a natural person, corporation, business\n\ntrust, estate, trust, partnership, limited liability company,\n\nassociation, joint venture, governmental agency, public corporation,\n\nor any other legal or commercial entity.\n\nJ. \"Request to intervene\" means notification by an automated\n\ndriving system to a human driver that the human driver should\n\npromptly begin or resume performance of part or all of the dynamic\n\ndriving task.\n\nK. \"SAE J3016B\" means the Taxonomy and Definitions for Terms\n\nRelated to Driving Automation Systems for On-Road Motor Vehicles\n\npublished by SAE International in June 2018.","path":["OK Code","Title 47"],"source_url":"https://www.oklegislature.gov/OK_Statutes/CompleteTitles/os47.pdf","current_through":"2026-08-14","vintage":"open-us-law v2026.08, retrieved 2026-09-14","retrieved_at":"2026-09-14T18:32:36Z","sha256":"77cd354d219ea41c876771e4cf3db643b8e3878b2f096df2560ebd18fc6f5782","source_id":"us-ok","stale":false,"prev":"us-ok/okla.-stat.-tit.-47-47-1700","next":"us-ok/okla.-stat.-tit.-47-47-1702"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
